Sony would aim to release the new PlayStation VR glasses for the PlayStation 5 around the holidays next year, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday. According to the news agency, the headset has OLED screens.

Sony announced the headset earlier this year, but hasn’t said anything about a release date yet. The company previously announced that the VR glasses will not be on the market for the time being, because there is still a lot of work to be done.

Sources tell Bloomberg that the new device will have OLED screens just like the current PlayStation VR headset. This is remarkable, because more and more manufacturers have recently switched to LCD screens. These are cheaper to produce.

It was previously announced that the new virtual reality headset will receive an improved controller and will work with one cable. The glasses also get a higher resolution. That should make the image of the new glasses sharper than that of the glasses for the PS4 console.
